Jen started playing early in life. Coming from a musical family, she was just immersed from the start and played solely by ear. Jen did attempt to take piano lessons from a lady down the street from her house but was asked not to come back after several weeks. Jen would play the lesson material but would then would show the teacher "what uncle Sal taught me" and proceed to play something like “Kansas City” by Fats Domino. The teacher just wasn't into R&B from a 7 year old.

In high school, she joined a rock band and the performance bug kicked in!

Attending college at UMass Lowell with some the amazing musicians she still plays music with was a divine intervention in her opinion. Jen went to a lot of underground “hootenannys” at friends' houses and frequented the local Lowell open mic nights. She had taught herself a few guitar chords and began writing on both piano and guitar. Taking some of the skills she learned in the college of music and remaining true to her primal musical instincts, Jen made the decision to leave school and pursue her own singing, songwriting and playing style which she still develops and works at.
