Bio
Born in Kent in the summer of '79, Jehst spent his childhood in Sussex before moving to Huddersfield, West Yorkshire as a teenager. Fueled by the bleak reality of smack infested post-industrial North he re-located to London, making his vinyl debut in 1999 with the highly acclaimed "Premonitions" EP, launching the self-financed YNR Productions label from his University halls of residence and so it all begun....

Jehst is one of the UK’s leading Hip Hop artists. Growing up in both the South East and North West of England, the self-styled ‘High Plains Drifter’ has been based in London for the last 10 years. Throughout which time he has released countless classics, established his own label YNR Productions, and earned the respect of a fiercely loyal fan-base both at home and abroad.
As an accomplished MC and producer Jehst’s massive back-catalogue includes the solo outings Premonitions (1999), The Return Of The Drifter (2002), Falling Down (2003), Nuke Proof Suit (2005) Underworld Epics Vol.1 (2006) & The Mengi Bus Mixtape (2006) as well as countless collaborations, cameos and productions.
Whether behind the boards or on the mic, the long list of artists that Jehst has worked with reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ of the UK’s Hip Hop elite, including Task Force, Lewis Parker, Klashnekoff, Mr Thing, Mystro and Foreign Beggars to name a few.
With live performances as strong as his discography Jehst has torn-up shows all over the world, whether headlining or billing along side the likes of KRS One, De La Soul, Non Phixion, Q-Bert, Atmosphere, J-Zone, Mr Lif and even reggae legends Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and Max Romeo.
With a new album ‘The Dragon Of An Ordinary Family’ lined-up for release in late 2009 as well as overseeing forthcoming projects from Kashmere, Micall Parknsun and Sir Smurf Lil’, Jehst is busier than ever so stay tuned for the next exciting installment from the hardest working man in Hip Hop!
