“Jeff Ruby - Fortune’s Fool (Independent) There’s a late ‘80s / early ‘90s feel to Jeff Ruby’s “Fortune’s Fool” which is instantly appealing. The genre he so effortlessly taps into is alt. rock, though that oversimplifies much of what’s happening here. He’s a songwriter at heart, and even though the majority of the arrangements are both striking and vociferous, it’s the songs that make the first impression. The fact that they’re sung with a voice that brings to mind Chris Cornell, Jim Morrison and Michael Stipe adds to the charm. ”
