About
Grand prize winner in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest!

I've been writing and playing original songs since I was a teenager. Along the way I have performed at San Francisco clubs with the quartet Heavy Wood, released the solo CD Traveling Songs, scored a rock musical...and played tabla in a TV commercial in India.
Read more about all the above at my site...watch live videos here... and check out the Words and Music Songwriter Showcase.
I'm also the founding editor of Acoustic Guitar magazine, a contributor to NPR's All Things Considered, and author of The Complete Singer-Songwriter: A Troubadour's Guide to Writing, Performing, Recording, and Business and Rock Troubadours: Conversations on the Art and Craft of Songwriting (featuring Jerry Garcia, Ani DiFranco, Paul Simon, Dave Matthews, Joni Mitchell, and more).
