“San Antonio native Jason Gerard's music has been described as "Human League meets Iggy Pop ." That's pretty accurate. But let's also toss in plenty of dark Lou Reed moodiness and Robert Smith anguish. Gerard definitely relishes that gray area dividing '80s new wave pop from modern-day alternative rock. The tunes on his 2008 effort, You Set Me Free, go from melodically murky, such as "Plastic and Glass," to piercingly rocking, like "I Wanna Fly." It's a record that seeps underneath the skin.
Little history on Gerard: He co-founded the punk-rock band Egoteric, & was a contributing songwriter to material by metal group Debbie Does Dahmer. He plays guitar and keyboards, and his vocals have a disaffected droning quality that fits ideally with the new wave meets alternative aesthetic.
The current tour takes Gerard through his San Antonio home turf, as well as San Marcos, Austin [&] Dallas. His opening act for the show is Commercial Free Project, an alternative grunge band from San Antonio”
