About
Born a Gemini (May 24, 1982) Jamika Jasmine Hobbs from Roxbury of Boston, Massachusetts is a veteran to the mic. At the age of ten she danced at family functions, cookouts, birthday parties and etc. When she was twelve she started rapping. One of her older brothers would write some of the lyrics, Jamika would re-write and perform songs. Jamika’s first show was when she was fourteen! In her own words, “ I ’ m continuing to rap, sing, write and dance because its what I love to do, Entertain, Perform, and Make The Crowd Go Wild!! ’’ Jamika hooked – up with a fellow male rapper from Boston and continued to write raps. She explains, “I met this guy who was deeply into rapping who asked me if I wanted to be in a show with him, so of course I took up this opportunity. He wrote some of my lyrics for me, but as I was reading them I felt like there was a need for me to play with them. When I started to rewrite them I woke-up, and realized I found the two things that complete me, which are dance and rapping. ’’ As far as experience Jamika has went to NU Stars TV & Film On Camera Training in Boston, Phunk Phenomenon Dance Complex in Boston, TOPH Dance Education in Boston, and John Casablanca ’ s Modeling and Career Center in Boston. She has performed at Alvin Ailey Dance Tribute at the Strand Theatre in Dorchester of Boston, the Boston Celtics Half Time Dancer at the Fleet Center in downtown Boston, WWF Wrestling Event at Everett High School in Everett, Mass., Special Olympics at UMASS College in Boston, 1 st Night (New Years Eve Party) at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, New Friends Through dance at the John Hancock in downtown Boston and at local Boston nightclubs and bars, Slades Bar & Grill in the South end of Boston.
