Born and raised in a small town in North Carolina, I was blessed to have the heart of a country girl but the sight of a nomad. My simple yet complex ideals tend to spill over into my poetry and into song after spending sleepless nights writing poetry and hours singing with her favorite artists. I literally have a brown bag swelling with my thoughts and feelings throughout the years. I didn't decide to combine my two loves until much later. So I always say that I am a singer that writes poetry because it happened to me in that order. I am transitioning into songwriting.

Singing since the age of three - and yes I can remember being three - I listened to and learned from some of the heavyweights: Luther Vandross (remarkable voice); Kenneth "babyFace" Edmonds (sweetest crooner and my favorite songwriter); Anita Baker (jazzy soul)...then grew to love: Jill Scott (power house voice and poet); Ella Fitzgerald (fire - could sing with anyone at any given moment). I still listen to them with appreciation and amazement.

Music has been my pleasure, my desire, my lover ... it has kept me warm when everything else tumbled and was cold and unyielding. It has been a blessing and a curse. My fellow musicians can more than likely agree to that statement.
