A native of Chalkida, Greece. Ioannis Kalantzis studied composition and computer music at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique of Lyon with Philippe Manoury, Marco Stroppa and Dennis Lorrain.

He has received distinctions and prizes in contests as CIMESP'97 (Brazil), Papayioannou '98, (Greece) Pierre Schaeffer '99 (Italy), Arts 2001 (Spain) and Grame/EOC 2002 (France).

His work has been selected for the official concerts of the International Computer Music Conference ( ICMC'99 Beijing, China ), (ICMC 2001 Havana, Cuba), (ICMC 2003 Singapore), (ICMC 2005 Barcelona, Spain), (ICMC2007 Copenhagen, Denmark).

His pieces has been performed worldwide in many other international events in France, England, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Ukraine, S. Korea, Chile, Australia, and USA.
His work has been released on CDs in Brazil by UNESP/FASM and Canada by PeP/CEC.

His music explores the realisation of sound organisms, which lead across their movements and their unusual logic to a particular type of energy.
