“Rip-roaring across the plains, here comes Little Rock Arkansas’ stampede of loud guitar-rock with all strings blazing on their first full length album. Kind of like The Allman Brothers Band with a heavy metal attitude and one “hot-shot” guitar slinger in the person of Stephen Compton. West Memphis native Jack Poff handles vocals with a commanding voice, as well as rhythm guitar duties. The drumming is of the “whack the crap outta everything variety. Power chords, screeching or Dickey Betts-like guitar are the order of the day, with occasional slashing slide guitar. "Little Rock to Memphis be a long stretch of road..." and in the Arkansas summer, that road is oppressive and unforgiving. What does it take to make diamond? Heat and pressure; two things in great abundance on the 276 interstate miles separating Texarkana and Memphis, both physically and figuratively. It is from this environment that the quartet Interstate Buffalo arises. From a regional perspective, this is Southern rock, specifically from Arkansas. In spades. Arkansas the is Deep South's hillbilly stepchild. That is a lot to overcome, and Interstate Buffalo gives it the old I-30 Speedway try. It is a long shadow that IB steps into with this recording. Sure, the Allman Brothers, Widespread Panic, and, by proxy, the Grateful Dead are all here; but so, too, are the Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies, the Georgia Satellites, and My Morning Jacket (bad on the whiskey). This is beautifully ill-behaved music, but never at the expense of the dusty Arkansas prairie Southern rock they make. IB is not

Q: Do you really think your music is Blues? Why do so many choose to put themselves in the Blues Genre. You play Southern Rock, not that there is a thing wrong with that.

A: Thanks for the question anonymous. Yes we do. We're labeled a Blues Rock band for good reason. But we also play soul, funk and a bit of country too. We're from Arkansas, which means we grew up in the crossroads of all these different styles and sounds. So we pull influences from all the above. However, the "blues" is our largest influence. From Son House to Freddie King to Derek Trucks. Its at the heart of what we do. Its true we don't sound exactly like Muddy Waters, or Stevie Ray Vaughn or whatever definition some want to assign to the blues nowadays, but that's alright with us. Our fans don't seem to mind either. But if you ever make it out to one of our shows, you'll see why we're known as one of the best Blues Rock bands in Central Arkansas. We can play that I-IV-V with the best of em brother. Thanks again for the question anonymous. Keep on truckin!
