Bio
Image And Nation is the brainchild of Glenn Grubbs. It is a blend of many genres of music, the most prominent being: New Age, Ambiance, and Western Film Score.
Glenn often enlists the help of brilliant classical singer Christa Durand as well as a host of other musicians and artists.
I/N is preparing for the release of it's first album: Nomad very soon. The album will feature a heavy visual and mythological element as well as two CD's worth of music. Yet it will be free for download.

IMAGE AND NATION: AMBIENT WESTERN NEW AGE
Composer Glenn Grubbs began his musical career at the age of fourteen when he discovered his innate talent for the bass guitar. Since that time he has learned to play a variety of instruments. Glenn has started and been a member of several loud, high energy bands that have spanned the rock sub-genres. All the while Glenn has been exploring recording techniques and electronic composition.
While exploring the composition techniques of soundtracks, Glenn began to try his hand at other genres besides rock. Image and Nation was originally a small side project that began in December of 2004. The idea was to compose a five song EP to sell along with his other band's cds at their shows. Although the original idea was to compose a New Age Album, Image and Nation has grown to include and incorporate elements of World Music, Western Film Score, Ambient Experimental, and even A little dance music (thus the Genre Ambient Western New Age).
Each track explores unique emotional territory not always associated with the New Age Music genre. Although some of the songs are meditative and peaceful, the album covers a full range of emotions. The listener will also hear melancholy and contemplative, joyful and vibrant, and angry and aggressive tracks.
The vocals on most tracks are performed by Christa Durand. Glenn met Christa while they were both attending Sonoma State University. They approached the music from two completely different backgrounds. Glenn being a more rock oriented musician and Christa being trained as a classical musician. They found that even with their varied backgrounds in music they shared many common views of music, art, and performance. Since then Christa has frequently contributed and collaborated to the Image and Nation project.
Through many starts, stops, collaborations (both failed and successful), Image and Nation is in the process of creating two albums:
“Nomad”
To be released before the end of this year.
Content: Two CDs, 16 tracks, clocking in at 1:39:11.
There will also be visual and written narrative component to the album.

Besides her work with Image and Nation, Christa frequently performs classical music around the bay area.
