Bio
The band formed in late summer of 2002. At first we only had three members: guitar, drums, and bass. It took eight months to find Akenra(Tj), he was fronting a cover band in Alliance called ColorBlind. Once we had our singer it didn't take long, our first gig was March of 2003 opening for Theory of A Deadman at the now closed Odeon Concert Club. From there we continued to play shows at Peabody's, House of Blues, the HiFi in Lakewood, The Carriage House, Mango's, Sadie Renee's, Nautica Stage, ...

Update...kinda...

Not much happening...still not able to find a singer that can handle fronting the band, most are slightly in-key which won't work. Would love to get back out there and play again, but not in a hurry either, looking for the right combination of people...OR a new opportunity altogether. Maybe even instrumental, we'll see. Peace...hPr

“Modern rock generally means "rock with half a riff and plenty of weak, poppy conventions, big choruses, and an over-reliance on forced melodies heard ad nauseam on crap radio." Hydra plays what modern rock should be: straight-up jams that've kept pace with the evolution of hard rock.
Hydra has been playing together for two years, headlining the Hi-Fi, opening for national acts at the Odeon, and finding airplay on rock stronghold WMMS. Billy Morris (the former Warrant guitarist) mixed the disc -- really mixed it -- keeping four solid performances sonically distinct. Ennea nails a precarious, difficult balance between timeless and retro. "Home" sounds like a leftover from 1985, with a lumbering rhythm and awkward, barely-in-key harmonies. "Crawl" recalls Guns n' Roses, but is closer to Velvet Revolver, all slithering, badass groove that doesn't quite go over the top -- but Hydra sounds like it's close to figuring out how to get there.
