Live music from 7p-10p. B.D. Riley's is an authentic Irish Pub, locally owned, in downtown Austin...on east 6th street! Every Monday night, area man Johnny Fargo hosts an open mic. The open mic starts at 8p...but a Featured Artist is promoted from 7p-8p...and on this night, its Huge Sally! Thanks to Jake Riggs (www.ReverbNation.com/JakeRiggsBand) for hooking this up. Huge Sally is BACK, baby! See you there. Find out more about B.D. Riley's at http://bdrileys.com/
Live music all night long @ La Palapa. "Just stop on by, beneath the south Texas sky, where there's always something warm...and get in touch with Johnny On The Farm..." On the legendary Will Downing's old stomping grounds, John Downing's south Texas ranch in the beautiful Rio Grande Valley, there is a restaurant called La Palapa. Will hosted open mics and threw events here until his tragic passing in May of 2012...but his memory lives on through Huge Sally and everyone else who knew him swell. We'll be back, to reunite with old friends, and to trick Tomorrow into thinking that his future is his history...
Live music 7p-9p. Bastrop TX is where my dear friend, and Huge Sally cohort, Jake Riggs grew up. I've visited the town, but have not been to this place before. Huge Sally is reuniting, though, and I couldn't be more excited to come back to the Great State of Texas! Music will abound, in heavy doses, the whole time I am there. Hope to see you at Neighbor's!
Huge Sally will perform from 6p-7:30p, followed by Austin's own The Drakes, and their 2015 CD Release party.. One2One is a great bar to see live music in Austin. Its one of my favorite places to hang out when I visit, and Huge Sally has had the HUGE honor of performing on their stage during SXSW over the years. The very first time, we just walked in, asked to audition, and played 2 songs for owner/operator Gregg in the back room under the stairs before he said, "alright boys, I like it, you take the stage in 2 hours, filling in for a cancellation..." A year later, after another rousing set, I met a girl on the rooftop and argued with her about the merits of long-term-relationships vs constant change and lover-swapping. This conversation turned into the song "Light Up The Sky", the title track off the 2014 album. Of course, since One2One has moved locations in Austin since those days, there is probably no more rooftop bar...but everything printed here is, and will be, history.
