conic Canadian jazz songstress Holly Cole is beloved across this country and beyond for her adventurous repertoire and ability to take a song, deconstruct it, and artfully redefine its composition into something never heard before. Raised right here in Fredericton, Cole’s illustrious career began more than 20 years ago with the Holly Cole Trio – who performed at the very first Harvest back in 1991. Cole released her first solo album in 1995, Temptation, and she continues to create theme-oriented albums rooted in jazz and pop, with samplings of everything from show tunes to folk and rock. Night, Cole’s first studio album in more than 5 years, depicts her love of the nighttime, and features a reunion of the original Holly Cole Trio. With a range of original songs and reconstructions of favourites including John Barry's Bond theme “You Only Live Twice” and Gordon Lightfoot’s “If You Could Read My Mind”, Night is a true representation of Cole’s divergent repertoire. No stranger to touring, Cole’s passionate performances are presented with style, humor and grace. You’re not going to want to miss Holly Cole’s triumphant return to Fredericton at the Playhouse stage Saturday night!
