Q: Where do you get inspiration for your songs?

A: This is Matt. The original songs i have brought to the band tend to be about real things. I don't do so well with fiction. Some times inspiration comes from feelings. I wrote quite a few songs after my sister passed away suddenly at age 20, Traffic, Mornin, Restless Bones, Time, those songs came earlier on in my attempts to write. i think i got better with practice on songs like like the flood or popcorn. They were a lot easier because inspiration came from a real event so the narrative for me almost wrights itself. The one that really is totally made up is cheaters heart. but its a common story that feels like it happened for real a million times. husband comes home finds wife with lover double homicide with the death penalty.
