Hi Freak1c Biography

Ian Jay aka Hi Freak1c is a 27 year old DJ and producer from Bristol. Ian first picked up a piece of vinyl seven years
ago when a friend introduced him to a set of decks. He was hooked from that point on, spending most evenings and
weekends mixing and listening to dance music.

Ian began playing out 6 years ago after his first demo CD was snapped up by the then ‘Slinky’ warm-up bar, Bar I.
He doesn’t just blend or cut tunes, he likes to keep clubbers on their toes with some three deck mixing, accapellas
and scratching. Ian’s love of music and energy translates itself to his sets and keeps the crowds buzzing.

Ian has played at venues across the UK including Nottingham, Manchester, Bristol, and London alongside the biggest
named DJs. Back in the summer of 2004 he was spotted DJing by  a night in London, They snapped him up and flew
him over to Ibiza where he played in many bars and clubs.

Towards the end of 2006 Ian decided to concentrate on his music production. His first release with Mark Austin,
‘Distatic’, was signed to Oblivion and he has since gone on to work with some of the biggest talents in Hard Dance
such as Defective Audio, MDA & Spherical just to name a few and have also done collaborations with producers such
as Amp Attack, James Taylor, Darrell White.

Ian’s latest project is a charity record label called ‘Outbreak Digital’. The label is designed to support both established
DJs and up-and-coming talent.  Every release will have a nominated charity with the proceeds from sales supporting a
variety of good causes.

At the start of 2008 Ian was runners at Harderfaster new producer of 2007 award.
 

2009 looks set to be another great year for Ian with many things planned such as a tour with new label Hostility a
long with some of the best producers on the scene, this is set to raise Ian's profile even more. Also a few guest
appearences on various radio shows and podcast this is setting out to be the best year yet.
