“Shiah Kingston Ortiz, 2 months, on one of his first outings Sunday, was rocking out to his father Cristian Ortiz's music in the courtyard at Working Artists Ventura's two-day celebration of Westside ArtWalk 2012. The free self-guided tour of artists' studios took visitors around downtown, along Ventura Avenue and on the Westside. According to Shiah's mother, Mariela Rodriguez, her boyfriend plays with reggae band Herbal Rootz, and the couple's newborn had been wiggling nonstop in time with the music. "He loves it," Rodriguez said. Friend Indira Van De Putte of Ventura said she was enjoying her first ArtWalk. "It's cool. It's really mellow," she said. Crowds of people filled downtown Ventura and the Westside for art, music and food all weekend.”
