Helena Arlock is a solo artist from southern Sweden releasing her debut EP ‘Old Dirty Hound’ in spring on the new record label Red Olive. This debut is mixing strong beats with dreamy pop melodies, veiled by Helena’s irresistible voice.

‘Old Dirty Hound’ was recorded in ARTin Studios in Helsingborg. Helena was given free studio time in exchange for designing the studio’s website. The EP was produced by Gustav Haggren and Helena Arlock. As the website began to take shape, so did the songs you can hear on ‘Old Dirty Hound’.

Helena starts her solo career on a USA/Canada tour in February 2007. That first year, Helena Arlock plays more than 100 shows around the world, starts the tour project Indienational Tour, tours with bands such as Shooting John, Gustav and the Seasick Sailors and Rachelle van Zanten and at the same time she runs the design company Arlock Design! There is no limit to Helena Arlock’s creativity and determination.
Helena grows up in a creative family in Helsingborg and starts playing as soon as she can reach the piano keys. The growing interest of music increases dramatically as she turns eight years old and starts playing the cello.
17 years old Helena joins the shoegaze band Nepal where she becomes more confident as a musician and develops new ways to use the cello, beyond her classical training.
Two years later, Helena is asked to become a member in the alt. country band Shooting John right before the release of their debut album ‘Moodswings’. During a tour with the band in Germany in 2006 Helena meets the Canadian slide guitarist Rachelle van Zanten. Shortly thereafter Helena goes to Canada to tour as a cellist and backup vocalist for Rachelle.
Two months after returning home from Canada, Helena packs her bags and crosses the Atlantic again, this time together with Gustav Haggren of Gustav and the Seasick Sailors. The plane lands in New York City. 3 months and 52 gigs later Helena and Gustav returns home to Sweden. Together with singer/songwriter Christian Cuff from Maine they start to plan the European autumn tour which will be the start of the tour project Indienational Tour - a network of touring musicians over the world helping each other, like coach surfing with instruments.
After several intense years in the industry, it is now finally time for Helena to release her debut album in Sweden.
This is Swedish indie pop at its finest.
