Bio
To some, Hapi may seem only moderately acquainted with the music scene, but this is far from the truth. The second oldest of four children, Hapi was always an adventurous and creative child. Driven by the sound of music, she began singing at home and at school at the tender age of seven and went on to learn piano and also played flute in the school band. It is this artistic flair coupled with an increasing understanding of the environmental issues that society faces today that has brought Hapi the artist to the forefront.
In 1992 she started her studies at The University of Sussex where she majored in Environmental Science. Her degree granted her an in-depth knowledge of the sciences, allowing her to evaluate and formulate her solutions to the current ecological problems.
Her resolution for eco issues comes in the form of a totally unique and ‘signature sound’ which is a post-punk, electronic-like melody that depicts an ‘I do give a damn’ attitude. Hapi endeavours to create a global positive change as she actively attempts to develop the sound of a new genre called Ecotronica, a form of musical self-expression.
Hapi penned her first track Millennium Woman in 1999 and since then it has been a non-stop rollercoaster, with the savvy artist going on to record many more tracks, some of which are featured on her EP entitled ‘Alternative Energy’. She has received backing from Aura Noctis after she was spotted on myspace. After her stint fronting a punk style band called Submarines for two years, singing in and around London venues she realised that was not enough and she wanted to put her own message out into the world and that’s when she had the idea for her new album.
The singer and songwriter now resides just outside of the city of London. She is currently working on her new album “Every Atom is Sacred”, which is due for release in the early part of 2009. Each song on the new album expresses the different aspect of environmental issues through a creative blend of lyrics and composition. Her previous EP is available on itunes, Napster and Rhapsody. After months of hard work, planning and preparation, Hapi is definitely set to cement her place in the 2009 charts and create the change that she has been striving for, so be sure to watch this space.
