Q: Where do you think Chicago Hip-hop is headed?

A: It's a very interesting thing. Chicago has always been active in producing hip hop artist, whether it be dance, rap, production, dj'ing, fashion. The thing is Chicago has bread a brand new artist fueled by the local environment of violence and poverty. I honor the young'ns out there coming up rapping because it's honest. On the other hand, the subject matter is less to my taste. This said I think that we will see a new group of artist come out of "The City" simply out of the need for change. I believe there will be a renaissance, so to speak, of more constructive, conscience rap. I think for every generation or two there is a cycle. Who knows years after that we might be back to "Bang, Bang"!
