As the Crow Flies Presents and Sailor Rick have teamed up to showcase a dance concert featuring these two dynamic acts starting at 9:30 p.m. at Cooper’s Ale Works in Nevada City. Exquisite Corps has been described as “orchestral indie” or “chamber rock.” Their original sound is driven by a six-piece ensemble that includes two violins, keyboards, bass, guitar, vocalists and drums. The band has been nominated this year for two Sammies (Sacramento Area Music Awards) for Best Indie and Best Live Performer — with the awards scheduled to be announced the night of this Friday’s show. Exquisite Corps toured this summer, opening for national acts, including Blonde Redhead, Minus the Bear and Imagine Dragons. ~ Nevada County’s own Grease, Grit & Grime brings a new edge to the traditional blues of the early 20th century. GG&G features Scott “Philharmonica” Hickman (blues harp, vocals), Seth Miner (guitar, vocals), Hayes Burris (bass), Ty Smith (drums) and Chad Conner Crow (vocals and general mayhem). The band includes past and/or current members of the Chillbillies, Organic Flood, Earles of Newtown and Single Jack, among others. Miner, Hickman and Crow warmed up the audience for Buddy Guy last week in Grass Valley, but Burris and Smith will bring on the full heat to fire up the audience for Exquisite Corps this Friday.
