Glass Bead Game

• Formed in 2003 by guitarist Rich Zapf, original drummer Ben Doerfler, and guitarist Zac Dowell, Michael Johnson was soon recruited for bass duty.
•    

• With influences including King Crimson, Mahavishnu Orchestra, The Mars Volta, Led Zeppelin, and Santana, This original lineup allowed for the beginning of Rich's vision to take shape. Ben Doerfler eventually left to pursue musical endeavors in California and Mike Zimmerman stepped in to provide his unique voice to the project.

• This time saw the completion of Glass Bead Game's first full length self produced album "Archaeopteryx." Zac Dowell too found opportunity in California and for some time Rich, Mike and Michael continued on as a three piece and continued to put the finishing touches on "Archaeopteryx."

• Wanting to represent the recorded material faithfully to live audiences Steven Guerrero was picked up to provide bass duties allowing Michael Johnson to move to guitar, his primary instrument.

• 2008 sees Glass Bead Game with new material and entering the studio to produce a follow up to "Archaeopteryx."
