Bio
Through Lisa's company, Gilliam VOCALS, Inc, she uses her talents of singing, speaking, spoken-word, reciting poetry. She also hosts events. Moreover, since her first cd, Past to Present, comprised of spoken-word poetry and gospel music was released in 2004, Lisa has openly shared her testimony of God's goodness, grace, and healing that has taken place in her life. She combines Biblical principles with spoken-word, creative writing, and singing as she shares her testimony about how she learned to forgive and overcome the effects often caused after experiencing sexual abuse, molestation, acquaintance/date-rape, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, and situational depression.

Lisa L. Gilliam received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Drama with a minor in vocal music performance from Virginia Union University (VUU) in 1995. She went on to receive a Master of Arts degree in Education and Human Development with a concentration in Community Counseling from The George Washington University (GWU) in 1999. That same year, she completed training as a minister, preached her initial sermon, and was licensed. Later on she was ordained as an evangelist. In 2001, Lisa founded Gilliam VOCALS, Inc., whose motto is "Doing All Things To The Glory of God", adapted from I Corinthians 10:31 and Colossians 3:17. VOCALS is an acronym for Vocalist, Orator, Consultant, Actress, Lyricist, and Saved, all describing Lisa. The mission of the corporation is to uplift, encourage, and enhance the lives of people through the performance, literary, and communication arts. The vision is to: (1) Create conferences, seminars, and workshops that inspire others to share testimonies and use their talents to spread the love of God, heal the broken-hearted, and win souls for Christ; (2) Provide venues for performance, literary, and communication artists to gain knowledge and exposure, network, and share their talent(s).
