Bio
Blake met Sara. Blake & Sara wrote some songs. The songs needed some "boom-boom." Blake & Sara met Marie and they ate pizza every wednesday for the entire month of January and watched nerdy movies together. Oh and then there were the video games and lots of other literally insane things like roller skating your face off.
About
Gemini Cricket began as a project between two pals: Blake and Sara. We decided one Spring day to learn how to play new instruments. We got our hands on a drumset, a bass guitar and borrowed a keyboard and started writing songs. We focused on writing what we knew about so we wrote about what it's like to be two crazy kids in our 20's. We performed as "Gemini Cricket" for the first time at the Peach Palace in May 2006.
Summer-time whisked us away to the mountains of North Georgia where we served as camp counselors. While separated by our daily duties I continued to write and make tape recordings by the lake. Sara handled all the teenage girl drama at the girls camp across the mountain. As soon as we returned from camp, Gemini Cricket began writing and practicing new songs. To aid in the new "bIGGER" sound we added multi-instrumentalist/ whiz-kid-dude Jay Henriques to the fold. We played our first show as a trio in September '06 to a packed house-show at the Oxford Heat.
We played a rousing set at local rock 'n roll bar "Repent" on Fat Tuesday 2007. We employed the assistance of good ol' buddy ol' pal Davy Gibbs to the line-up for extra help with drums. This event was the first time we played as a full-on band and it marks the un-official birth of GEMINI CRICKET the band. So Gemini Cricket is actually an Aquarius!
Upon returning from summer camp the following year we played Athens Popfest and Athfest. Our pals Missy (slide whistle, kazoo) and Raoul (trumpet) from the French Toasts pitched in with trumpet, kazoo, slide whistle and smokin' dance floor moves. Sometimes we play as a duo and sometimes everyone is involved! We love making fun tunes with friends and I have a feeling Gemini Cricket will continue to grow and grow. So what are you waiting for? Come on out to a show and you may wind up in the band too!
