Born and raised in Houston, TX, contemporary country singer Gary Helms spent his time working the local Texas dancehall circuit. Gary completed college at the University of Houston/Downtown (U of H/D) in Houston where he was majoring in criminal justice.  During that time, he worked as a local peace officer. Gary admitted that by helping make a difference in other people's lives, it made a huge difference in his own.
