Never before has any of Atlanta's Underground Artists created a whole new genre of music to vibe to until now. The flavorful mixture of hip and poetry, with a dash of curry, was the innovation of Shrien (The Emcee) and Grace (The Poet), a.k.a, Fusion Of Da Elements. The two recording artists have collaborated with other artists, such as Tafari, Papi Hey, Gemini, and thirteen year-old percussionist, Lil Spec, to construct a project that appeals to audiences worldwide.
Honing the art of masking political themes with a beat, the project features a track titled, “Corporate Drama,” it gets romantic with “Hot Kisses On The Sofa,” and of course, everyone can relate to “The Hater.” Other pieces like, “Telekinetic,” and the dancehall-driven “Hol Yuh Caana,” ensure the diversity of subject matter and style presented on the fourteen track disc.
As performing artists who had already produced individual projects, Hip Hop and Poetry Fusion was the result of the pair meeting the needs of the industry. “I got bored with what was out there. I wanted to hear a different sound,” says Shrien. He also stressed the importance of delivering positive messages. “Artists can change minds. (They can) change the world for the better.”
When asked what keeps Grace on her path, she explained that “it's simple when it's who you are in the core.” She also expressed her insatiable need to convey ideas through music, stating that she takes it seriously, and appreciates having a platform to demonstrate her personal growth.
Along with the benefit of being able to retain it as a souvenir of one of Atlanta's firsts, consumers who experience Hip Hop and Poetry Fusion can look forward to receiving a project that is the only one of its kind. Its creative concepts, lyrics, and beats, accented by the pioneering voices of New York and the Caribbean, unquestionably mark this CD an international collector's item. This project boasts triumph for hip hop, poetry, and of course, the group that made it possible.......Fusion Of Da Elements.
