“Hendrix said he would sit in with both the Ken Smith Band for Jeff Jones and the Flexibles for Kevin Lovelace. Occasionally Fred Young would let Webb sit in with the Itchy Brothers. Hendrix started playing with Ernie Small, “the first real band I played with” n Small, Hendrix, Byron House (guitar), and Larry Dillard when House was busy (Dillard was also in the Flexibles). Webb and Larry also had the Flying Monkeys, with John Dowell (bass), Scott Brantley (congas, percussion - also acted and was an extra in Andersonville with Andy Stahl), Jane Pearl and Beverly Smith (vocals). Beau Haddock and Ed Dansereau would also sit in. The Flying Monkeys had a regular gig at the Holiday Inn on 31-W Bypass. Hendrix said the Flying Monkeys were for he and Dillard to play “more often than Ernie wanted to play.” ”
