“Fits Of Hail – Annabel And The Stars (Independent) Fits Of Hail is one Chris Anderson and his loop pedal. Annabel And the Stars is his debut 6-track mini album, and it’s a lo-fi affair, basically presented with just Anderson’s guitar accompanying his voice. This results in the songs becoming all-important and unfortunately, there’s no single track here that instantly hits you between the eyes, though repeated spins reveal the songs strengths and they are plentiful. Indeed, much like the Bon Iver record, patience is required, and is ultimately rewarded. Melodies infuse like secondhand teabags – slowly but surely. “The Charm” is positively upbeat, with Anderson’s voice strong then breaking. The final track, “Moving East” ups the jangle and leaves us with a high. If you’re currently enjoying the music of The Gentle Good, or never quite got over that Bon Iver record, it’s definitely worth checking out Anderson and Fits Of Hail.”
