ENGLISH :

Franck Al Yamine Cohendet was born in August 1966, the 16th, in a musicians and music teachers family, his father was drummer like his uncle, and his godfather was Symphonic Orchestra Director and clarinettist. Around 5 years old, he lived his first transe, took away by drums playing Republican March (from Napoleon).

He started to read music and play clarinet, from 7 years old to 13, and at 17 he recieved a gift : old bongos, wich initiated his way to the traditional drums sphere. He followed musical studies, notably at the Chambéry Conservatoire (F-73), to work on marimba and vibes with Frédéric Jeannin (Les Percussions Claviers de Lyon.F-69), and learned traditional drums with masters from different cultures, including Daniel Maldonado (Puerto-Rico) and Orlando Poleo (Venezuela).

His own research brings him early to be interested with the sound vibration and the rythms frequencies, as well as the ways they are expressed through drums, since ancient times, all over the world. Ethnomusicology is a part of his teaching, and he steps in the musicotherapists formation in Geneva for more than 10 years.

Drummer since 1984, singer and author since 1993, and composer since 2006 ; he works as much as part of traditional music from african, afro-cuban and arabic cultures, than in Jazz and actual musics (House music-Electro-Rap-Rn'B) register. He aims at broadcasting the "drum tradition", wich has ever been inparted orally, by cultures that knew how to protect and keep alive the elders knowledge, while developing it, without using our occidental music-writing mode (or lately).

The "musical halfcasting" is, for FAYC, a means to present the wealth of this "drums science", integrating traditional percussion into new musical styles like Jazz, Electro-House music (cf "DRUMS IN DA HOUSE", his 1° LP) ; incorporating a web-radio Team, created by the DJs crew of RADIOLOOPIN.com, and stepping in live performance acts with Djs (FAYC Drums & Mix) in the framework of Night Clubbing.

In 1993, he played for the first part of Marie Miryam and Hugues Auffrey shows, and in 2000 for the 1st part of Manu Dibango's concert.

Since 2007, Franck Al Yamine Cohendet (FAYCpercussion© Production) is Editor and Producer of his works, with the production of his first album DRUMS IN DA HOUSE.

Since 2008, is member of the INTERNATIONAL SALSA MAGAZINE editorial staff, a monthly magazine of around 150 pages, specialized in Salsa world's current events, in english and spanish, delivered on the web after subscription.

Actually, FAYC suggests shows and concerts, with severals groups : ASSIA & AL YAMINE (eastern belly dance & drum), CUBANA BOP (latin jazz) ; and teach african, afro-cuban, arabic and spanish traditional drumming.
