Bio
Forged in Arkansas by a collaboration of three veterans (one of which was from Desert Storm) and two brothers from the deserts of Arizona. You would have thought we would have used a desert theme in our name. Well, I guess you could use the tired analogy of the desert wanderer crawling on his belly in search of water, full of False Hope for the upcoming oasis, ok, yeah, never mind, it works there too.
About
Together for over two years as this line up, most of us have been together for the better part of 20 years in one form or another. We do have friends who show up from time to time to play with us. False Hope was formed after the unfortunate breakup of Cedaridge, and the three remaining members weren't about to quit playing music.
We were off to a rough start launching into our first gig after only two months together, but we are ahead of where we thought we would be a year ago. And it's always nice to be ahead of schedule. We are already in the studio for our first recording and have already released our first four singles to the web at The61. And we have already setup shop at cafepress with a second shop coming soon to zazzle. Our focus and philosophy is: "Treat the music right and the music will treat you right."
We have set ourselves up as a club cover band and we have played several weddings, festivals, and charity events. After nearly calling ourselves KraMPaKT we will soon be attacking the internet with the same "False Hope" that has nearly turned us into a road band in less than a year.
We fancy ourselves as being a new generation of a long line of Southern Rock/Red Dirt/Americana bands. Please don't confuse that with rock-a-billy... Our band's influences come from many bands like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Thin Lizzy, Golden Earring, Bachman Turner Overdrive, and then we start throwing in our personal influences. We have actually been compared as a cross between Pink Floyd and Bob Segar with some Metallica thrown in for good measure.
Aric is a metal head and before his bout with tendonitis was a decent VanHalenish player, and had never touched a bass before. His main influence was Stu Hamm and Glen Kaiser from Rez Band. Shannon started out as a Chicago listener, but quickly branched out to other areas, then settled on a folksy/country writing style, well until recently. John is our resident Skynyrd guru. He is anal retensive about making sure the leads are note for note. Allen is a country nut, nuff said. And Chris, well, he is actually a composer and should be writing movie scores instead of playing with us, but his eclectic favorites span techno, symphonic, classical, metal, and so much other, I'm not sure how he gets anything else finished!
