EX NORWEGIAN
Indie-rock buzz band EX NORWEGIAN’S refreshingly catchy sound is taking them to this year’s annual CMJ Music Marathon in New York City -- mere months after their formation.
EX NORWEGIAN was formed by Roger Houdaille in the summer of 2008 with the charming and mesmerizing to watch bassist Carolina Souto. Under the name FATHER BLOOPY they released the critically acclaimed Ginger, Baby album in 2007 which immediately grabbed the band a lot of attention due to the album’s fresh experimental approach. The change to their new Monty Python-inspired name was described as "a conceded effort towards a more focused identity and sound," by Houdaille, adding "it worked too!"
The band released their debut single "Something Unreal" after being besieged by radio stations requesting copies of the track. The homespun-style music video for the song became a popular favorite on YouTube, receiving thousands of views within the first few days of its release.
Their song "My Name Is Paul," which embeds the band's more political side, was featured on XM Radio.
However, there is no need to read in between the riffs or lines to have fun with Ex Norwegian, and there's always that unexpected irony to their sound. The band's love of music shines through making even their sad songs sound upbeat.
Ex Norwegian band members are Roger Houdaille (guitar, vocals) Carolina Souto (bass, vocals) Arturo Garcia (drums, vocals). Live they are augmented with guitarist Guillermo Gonzalez.
