PROPERGANDER/Ernie Dewing / Press

“For Mr. Dewing, rough weather is, quite literally, the perfect storm for inspiration. Writing music is a daily thing for him, but he is especially productive in winter, when new ideas torch into overdrive and he comes up with more new material for his band to record. “That’s when most of my ideas come. I love snowstorms when I’m stuck in the studio for a week.” While talking about the writing process itself, his philosophy is to “make music for yourself first — then if the song touches someone, that’s a bonus.” It’s no wonder that fans keep coming back for more.”

“Propergander’s new album Wide Open has enough classic rock influences to make the listener feel he is listening to something not only great but comfortably familiar. This Martha’s Vineyard band’s straight forward rock and roll is chockfull of good guitar lines, earthy vocals, and tasteful rhythm section touches. Lead vocalist Ernie Dewing has a plaintive quality in his timbre and projection that makes you feel what he is singing about. Guitarist Greg Holland presses out some sweet melodic phrases that sweep by like a magic carpet ride”

“The Martha’s Vineyard based Propergander reflects the laid back, good time vibe of the island on their fabulously trippy, psychedelic, retro offering, Wide Open.”

“While teaching piano, young Ernie Dewing’s grandmother made him a deal: one classical sonatina for every Rolling Stones song.”

“The CD "Wide Open" is heartfelt collection of songs with a serious, mellow southern rock feel. Most of the tunes develop a slow groove that begs to have its lyrics listened to.”
