I love doing these shows-a fine opportunity to perform with some of my favorite people at one of my favorite venues performing some of my favorite music! The legendary English rock band Traffic rose to prominence in the late ’60s and ’70s with hits like “Hole in my Shoe, “Feelin’ Alright, and the pivotal “The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys.” The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Steve Winwood helped found Traffic in 1967 as the lead singer and keyboardist and later formed bluesy supergroup Blind Faith with English rock icon Eric Clapton. He has also had a successful solo career as a pop artist, winning Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance for his hit song “Higher Love” in 1986. BandHouse Gigs is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization that began in 2004 when the Washington Music Association wanted to produce a tribute concert to Nils Lofgren. The group recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. Past BandHouse Gigs’ concerts have included tributes to Nils Lofgren, Joni Mitchell, Woodstock, the British Invasion, Paul Simon, and Rod Stewart, among others.

Washington, DC bassist and soul/pop artist Eric Scott has toured throughout the US, Europe, Canada, and Latin America. A 13 time Wammie winner, he returns to the Metropolitan to preview songs from his new upcoming CD. Eric has drawn sell out crowds with his neo-soul & folk influenced pop, his brutally honest and soul baring lyrics, and his powerful, soulful voice. His 4 previous albums have received critical acclaim and strong airplay throughout the US and Europe, and have appeared on many network and cable TV shows, and in several major motion pictures. His song "My Heart Belongs To You" was featured in the summer 2013 Lionsgate film "The Frozen Ground" starring Nicolas Cage, John Cusack, and 50 Cent. His live show is funky, soulful, and uplifting, and his new album promises to be the same, with a generous helping of old school soul and funk sprinkled in. "...with a voice like his, he can do no wrong..." Strutterzine, The Netherlands Mary Ann Redmond is an American singer known for her soulful and wide-ranging vocal style in popular and jazz music. She is based in the greater metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, but has performed in many locations across the United States and other countries. Both her live performances and her five CDs to date have earned her acclaim from audiences and recognition from the music industry. She has won an astounding 23 Washington Area Music Awards (Wammies). North Carolina native and Virginia resident Crys Matthews has been performing professionally since 2008. She has shared the bill with artists ranging from the Indigo Girls and Dar Williams to regional favorites like Xenia Sky and Mission South. Matthews just released her third full-length album called Come What May. A departure both musically and lyrically from her earlier works, this album bridges the gap between contemporary folk and Americana with simple, honest storytelling set to great music that helps you feel every word. From the title track (a love song, sparked by a furlough) to “You Remind Me” (three love stories rolled up into a history lesson), Come What May is a beautiful and heartfelt commentary on the belief that the personal is political and the political is personal. In 2012, Crys Matthews released her sophomore album, A Lesson Learned, as well as an EP called The Izzle Ballads. In the September issue of Curve magazine, Rachel Shatto wrote: "A Lesson Learned sounds like how a glass of iced tea tastes: familiar, comfortable and refreshing...Fans of Tracy Chapman and Ani DiFranco will find plenty to love with this album, as Matthews shares their gifts of telling simultaneously intimate and relatable stories, all while continuing to refine her own unique brand of R&B folk."
