Ask Eric "Mitch" Phillips anything...
Q: The song "You never really think you are going to get old" Really hits home! I would like to know who the older gentleman is? (@ the end of the song).? How long have you been writing music for?
A: The elderly gentleman at the end of "You Never Really Think.." is my father. He passed away about two weeks after that was recorded. I've been writing music since i was 16yrs old. My first song was a nuclear protest called, "No Place To Run" and was performed the day after in the talent show with my then band Gypsy Magenta (John Harmey on lead guitar, btw). The crowd went nuts but we were disqualified for being "professionals" (i.e. we'd been paid for gigs previous to the talent show).
