Emily Randolph and Oaklawn are the Headliners at the standout Festival! An official SeaFair-sanctioned event, Covington Days has been a staple in the community since 1986. The festival is always the third weekend in July! It's focus is on providing family fun while promoting community spirit. The festival kicks off on Saturday with the parade at 10 a.m. Afterwards, the festival grounds come alive with arts and crafters, carnival games, exhibitors, kid and family activities, on stage entertainment, inflatable toys, watermelon eating contest and much more!
South Sound Blues Association Back to Beale Street Blues Finals for the International Blues Competition. Held at Freedom Fair on July 4th at Duke's Chowder House Stage. Top 5 Bands competing for spot to go to Memphis in January 2015 for the International Competition. The band "Emily Randolph and Oaklawn", the first ever all youth band to make it into the finals, will be performing at 6pm.Come out and support this talented group and listen to some amazing original blues/rock music!

The South Sound Blues Association is presenting the Ninth Annual Back to Beale Street Blues Preliminary Competition on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Jazzbones, 2803 6th. Ave, Tacoma, WA. Donations are $10 / $8 Blues Association Members & Active Duty Military / Children under 12 Free The Back to Beale Street Blues Competition is a judged competition where each band performs a 25 minute set for a panel of three (3) judges. This year we have thirteen (13) bands that have signed up to compete. We’re all excited this year to have four (4) bands from the Puget Sound Music for Youth Association that will test their skills against some of the top blues bands in the Pacific Northwest. The acts are judged based on an established set of criteria; talent, vocals, blues content, originality and showmanship. The top four (4) bands on June 1st will advance to the finals at The Tacoma Freedom Fair and Air Show on July 4th on the Duke’s Chowder House Blues Stage. The winner will advance to the International Blues Challenge held on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee, in January 2015. The list of former SSBA musicians that competed in Memphis is impressive, The Randy Oxford Band, The Michal Miller Band, The Red Hot Blues Sisters, Blues Redemption, JD Hobson, Son Jack Jr and Michael Wilde, Jumpin’ Josh Violette, Felicia Argrelius and Nolan Garrett. The International Blues Challenge is the largest gathering of blues bands in the world. Bands and solo/duo acts from more than 19 countries are chosen to represent their states and countries. Last year over 125 bands and 75 solo/duo acts competed. Each band performs in front of an international panel of music industry professionals who judge the event. Emily Randolph and Oaklawn compete as a group at 4:40. Come support them and watch them deliver a truly unique Blues performance!
