Emily Hurd is a Chicago-based folk songwriter and pianist with a voice that both Rick Kogan of WGN and Richard Milne of WXRT have likened to musical icon Janis Joplin. Hurd is known for her intelligent lyrics and quirky live performance style. Emily Hurd’s music is a mix of delicate piano, soul singing, folk songwriting, and bluegrass rhyme schemes.
