ELOQUENCE

Hard work.  Those two words embody the artist known as Eloquence.  Hard work to achieve and maintain her status as one of Canada’s premiere Aboriginal hip-hop MCs.  And even more hard work for a female MC to gain recognition in a male-dominated industry.  But it was hard work and perseverance that enabled Eloquence to make her mark. 

Formerly known as Chickadee MC, ELOQUENCE has been performing and recording hip-hop music since 2002. 

One of Edmonton’s most recognizable female rappers, she is also one of the few Aboriginal female MCs in Canada. 

She got her first opportunity with renowned Aboriginal hip-hop group REDDNATION, touring across Canada visiting numerous Aboriginal communities. 

Soon after venturing on a solo career, her debut album “Fly” went on to receive a nomination at the 2005 Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards for “Best Rap or Hip-Hop Album”. 

She as a performer believes in uplifting young Aboriginal women.  She uses her music and appearances to reach out to and reaffirm the strength and beauty of a woman in young Aboriginal girls everywhere. Eloquence not only personifies what it is to be a strong young Aboriginal female, but also a young and dedicated parent.  Balancing school, work, family and music was not an easy task but she managed to persevere, and uses her lessons learned to pass them on to others. 

Eloquence is currently completing her second album and has recently added to the successful Going M.I.L.E.S. talent agency operated by actor Dakota House. 

She has appeared in:  SAY Magazine, SPIRIT Magazine, Alberta Sweetgrass, The Rizing: The Best of Native Hip-Hop Compilation (2004), Roots Rebel Music Compilation (2006).
