“GIVE INTO THE GROOVE drives my mission as much as, if not more than my music,” confesses Hot Sauce Records founder ellee ven. Now in its tenth year, GIVE INTO THE GROOVE focuses on the message that “no gift is too big or too small.” “Musical inspiration ebbs and flows and like most artists, I tend to really feel highs and lows, but my hope is that what I’ll represent as a person is that EVERYONE has the ability to help others and that giving is a great healer. The giver gets too. So start small go big, it all counts.”

“Bringing the groove of giving back to the community of Lexington is what Ven plans to accomplish. “It will be a fun night filled with good vibrations,” Ven said. Ven said this event isn’t about feeling obligated to donate a lot of money to one charity, but it’s based on the idea that someone of any age can make a positive impact on his or her community. Ven believes “everyone can do something” and choose what charity he or she wants to support. All proceeds collected Friday will benefit those charities that are participating in “Give into the Groove.” “What a great way to raise money for the nonprofits of Lexington,” said Melissa Patrick, a community communications and leadership development junior. “According to the interview I heard, this event is set up in a way to allows students and families the ability to donate to the charity of their choice, in an amount of their choice, while having fun at the same time.”

“When she was conducting business in her "other" home — Los Angeles — Ellee Ven began searching for a way for her favorite music to ignite a fun night of artistic philanthropy. And so Give Into the Groove was born. The idea was, in essence, a benefit without strings. No admission was to be charged. Instead, selected organizations would send representatives, distribute information about their community work, gain a few friends and volunteers, and perhaps raise some money. The backbone of the event, though, was music — an entire evening's worth. "Producing something like this is a lot easier than it seems," said Ven, a Los Angeles native who works most of the year on the West Coast, developing her recording and performance career while maintaining a home in Lexington. "After all, people want to do good for their community. That's always the promise. People enjoy being purposeful."”

“Wonder Where These Roads Will Lead Remix” is a fine example of what Ven and a small back-up band can do as they create a piece that has a touch of old school acid to it. Ven, who has also developed an animated series based on her personal experiences, has managed to largely avoid commercial pressures, is rewarded your randy reviewer’s “Critic’s Choice” for “Touched”. This is an intimate hip-hop/electronica duet with Prodéje that just plain works and could no doubt be remixed into a great slow dance number to boot . . . providing Ven’s fans still slow dance, of course. The closing cut is “Lovin’ Me (Bye Bye)”. Yet another cut that effectively teams up Ven and Prodéje, this is somehow both classic “old school” and yet refreshingly new. Her Wildcat Lovin’ Majesty is catchy and current. If Ellee Ven keeps producing music such as this music fans might soon find themselves confessing: “she’s gotten ‘Under My Skin’ . . . in a good way!”
