Eleanor McEvoy Eleanor McEvoyDate/TimeDate - Sun 22 February, 2015Doors - 7:30 PMCategory:AcousticFolkIndie FolkPopSinger-SongwriterTickets: 12 adv / 14 door Age Limit: 14+ Irelands internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Eleanor McEvoy released her latest album STUFF on the Moscodisc label in May.The collection is the result of a purposeful mission by the Wexford-based singer to find and release the stuff the fans wanted but couldnt find.Eleanor says, After Id tracked down single mixes, audiophile tracks and songs Id written and performed on other artists records, the project soon took on a life of its own, with more tracks recorded and everything re-mastered. The album named itself STUFF. An eleven-track miscellany, Stuffs tell tales of unrequited love, lust and eloquent farewell; a heady brew of caustic observation laced with wit and wry self-deprecation typical of multi-instrumentalist McEvoy, all delivered in the Irish stars rich, lilting voice.Known for touring Europe in a black hearse, Stuff reflects the content of Dublin-born McEvoys current live show. The album includes her soul groove, The Thought of You, the radio mix of the acerbic Deliver Me, the collaboration with Polish a cappella group Banana Boat Little Look and Lovers Chapel, taken from Homespuns 2008 album Short Stories From East Yorkshire. Stuff also includes re-recordings of Take You Home and a mournful reading of Chuck Berrys Memphis Tennessee, plus new track Milord, which McEvoy performs as a tribute to singer Edith Piaf and writer Georges Moustaki. Formerly a session musician, including a long stint with The NSO, she decided whilst, with The Mary Black Band, that she should cash in the savings and develop her own career. One week her life changed. Marys label owner heard Eleanor play a self-penned song that would give a name and title track to the all woman compilation album A Womans Heart, Irelands best selling album. Simultaneously she was signed to Geffen where her eponymous album went on to sell 250,000 copies. Precious Little was a Billboard hit and Sophie has become a worldwide focus and comfort to millions of young people with eating disorders. Her previous album Alone is a collection of her best-loved songs performed solo.Described by Joe Duffy on Christmas Eve as The Woman who gave her Heart to the NationEleanors performances are intimate, emotional, uplifting affairs in which she explores soul, love and humour, using own compositions and interpretations from other songbooks, with her unique voice and beautiful playing. Eleanor toured Australia extensively throughout the spring before returning to the UK and Ireland.Visit this artists WebsiteFind this artist on FacebookListen to this artist
