I've had some nightmares in my lifetime
so I know why some people choose a life of crime.
But bad decisions cost you everything.
And I'm no killer but I think I can explain.
I've been pushed right to the brink before
Had some dark thoughts I don't wanna explore.
But I held on to my sanity
I cried out for help

I felt so cold and swore I'd never go again
and I've seen loved ones die of suicide
When I asked heaven why I heard no reply.

Almost gave up on my goals and dreams
Lost faith in myself and what I could achieve
Plus I felt I had no ways and means.
Poor on the inside and out
I needed to be free

So shy at times that you would never hear a peep.
Then my manic side would take control
Anger mixed with passion filled my soul.
Thought I hated life and people
Thought they hated me and I was a fool
Had to let go of that energy
That I kept bottled up
and so I set it free

I learned to be free so I could fly.
The answer was with me all my life.
I broke through all my chains and said goodbye
