Bio
I was born in the Middle East and when I was 8 I moved to Nottingham where I began writing songs and playing in bands. I left England for a German girl I met in London. I later moved to Hamburg to make a living in the city's red light district. People became interested in my own songs and Nottingham's Finest record label was formed around me. I had some fun recording with well-known German pop star Nena and also had a great time supporting Katie Melua on a bunch of concerts around DE.
About
Eventually returned to finish school in - family origin - Nottingham, England. Spent the whole time messing around with bands, theatre groups and general out-of-school busy-ness. Went to study theatre in London. Found love. Said love subsequently returned to - family origin - Germany in search of work. Young English gent, however, remained loyal to homeland, did temporary spell as music teacher for Special Education, before finally deciding the inevitable: to adventure abroad in vain pursuit of said love...
Whilst heroically chasing love around Europe (heartbreak ultimately in tow) the resilient young artist was snared by a well-established German music producer who politely asked him to record some of the songs he was carrying in his pocket at the time. Having nothing to lose and a penchant for new experiences, said young artist immediately replied: "why not?".
Initially he lived on a drummer's sofa whilst working as a live musician on Hamburg's red light district - the Reeperbahn - and writing and recording numerous songs with his new-found musical colleagues. So far he has released a duet with Nena ('99 Red Balloons'), toured with Katie Melua ('Closest Thing To Crazy') and played for the Prince of Holland on his 40th birthday. Duncan Townsend's debut single and album are to be released in 2009, under the independent label 'Nottingham's Finest'. 'av it!
