TX Book Festival Presents: A TRIBUTE TO DOUG SAHM This is a FREE show!! Seating is limited. First come first served. Location: Alamo Downtown Come join Jan Reid, author of “Texas Tornado: The Life & Music Of Doug Sahm” and Shawn Sahm, Doug’s son and an accomplished musician himself, for an evening of music and reminiscence. We’ll start with an overview of Sir Douglas’ life and music, then we’ll see the great man in his prime performing on October 14, 1975 at a taping of Austin City Limits with many of his old-time cohorts including Augie Meyer. They perform many of their standards including “The Rains Came”, “Mendocino” and She’s About A Mover” as well as energetic workouts on a couple of T-Bone Walker standards and much more. It’s prime-time Doug Sahm, demonstrating his superb musical mastery and versatility. After the concert we’ll have a Q&A featuring Doug’s biographer Jan Reid. Special thanks to Austin City Limits and the Texas Book Festival for making this event possible. (512) 476-1320
