Bio

After taking nearly a decade off from playing music, Dave came back with a whole new perspective and attitude about music and playing. Instead of the intensity and drive to be a "guitar god" in the 80's, he was now focused on the song, what the audience hears, rather than focusing on himself. With experience, comes a large repertoire of musical styles and influence. Relying on style and taste, rather than prowess, Dave excels in an improvisation/inspired environment and has been used by many singer/songwriters to bring new dimension to their music. Short notice, no rehearsals are favorite conditions.

About

I'm a guitar player. I play lead/rhythm guitar as a sideman for Charlie Imes, Sam Bybee, Chelsea Flor, Hot Rod Harris, and many other local singer/songwriters. I've also recorded guitar tracks for Kyle Phelan, Lee Coulter, Laura Kuebel, Sam Bybee, The Bigfellas, Brenda Xu and others. I've been honored to win the San Diego H.A.T. Award for "Best Back-up Musician" for 2006, 2007 and 2008, thanks to all that voted for me!

I also am a fan and supporter of the San Diego music scene. It's a thriving community with artists representing every genre, and even a few new hybrid genres. In San Diego, you can hear *real* music. Truly independent, not watered down by marketing machines trying to turn good music into mediocre pablum for the lowest common denominator. ListenLocalSD.Com is one of the best organizations that works so hard to keep our community active and in the public eye.
