Racial" issues aside, as an African-American, I have nothing but fond, childhood memories of reading Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn & Adventures of Tom Sawyer books, as well in watching all the film and TV versions; and I wanted to create a wistful piece that evokes Twain's nostalgic vision of 1845 Hannibal, Missouri (fictionally named, St. Petersburg in the books). For those who don't know, the fictional character of Rebecca (Becky) Thatcher is the eternally braided-blonde daughter of Judge Thatcher, and the "Girlfriend" of Tom Sawyer.

One can see Becky walking down the busy Main Street on a beautiful sunny summer morning, watching the Riverboat on the Mississippi River dock-in, and greeting the Well-Fed Banker and Pastor as they pass by; while happily anticipating another exciting, fun-filled day with her "Sweetheart" Tom, and his pal, Huckleberry Finn.
