Born and bred in South Africa - Joey Guess was born on 5th of August 1980.

When you combine perfection and passion, you get Joey Guess.

Music has always been his passion and was brought up with music, thanks to his mother (music teacher), playing guitar,drums, flute and piano. He has been DJ'ing from the tender age of 14 years, borrowing his dad's sound system to play at house parties, playing techno. At the age of 16 he got his first residency as DJ at Vantoons-Lydenburg.

  In 1999 after his 3 months of Sound Engineering he decided to start spinning the wheels of steel and joined the Epic DJ Academy where he won 1st prize at the graduation night. 2 Months later he played @ another DJ competition in Pretoria and won 1st prize again.

In the first 5 months of spinning he got his first big residency in Joburg at Tremors, playing alongside big names, like Zac, Speedy, Ricardo DaCosta, Dizzy & Surge, and more...

He then moved on to more residencies in Gauteng, playing wicked sets @ Insomnia, Electro Cage, Nite Feva, The Source, Ground Zero, Decadance, South Lane, Woodstock 3 just to name a few.

He's been inspired by DJ's such as Nelson, Surge and Dizzy and internationals such as DJ Isaac, Steve Murano, DJ Jean, DJ Dean, John Dahlback, Dirty South, AC Slater, Twocker, Bass Kleph, Will Bailey, Defuct! and the list goes on and on....

He has played alongside: Derek "the bandit", Surge, Dizzy, Speedy, Justin V, Zac, Alan Inferno, Brian Banshee, Manuel, Frank (Lock 'n Load), Ricardo, 1 on 1 set with Guy Herman (Pimp Squad) and many more....


He has a very unique way of spinning and always keeps his crowd happy with awesome mixes, wicked cutting and scratching. He is a very versatile DJ, playing House and Trance Classics, Dirty-Jackin'-Fidget/Wonk House, Electro House, Progressive House, Minimal and Trance.

Well, here's something from the man himself....... "In 2003 decided to take a break from the DJ scene and went over to London, UK. Having already played with FL Studio (Fruityloops 1-4) , I found some better music production software and started playing around with software, like Cubase and Reason. Being only a baby in the music production industry, I knew I had a lot to learn. So for the last few years I have been experimenting with synths, sounds and different types of production software.

In 2009, I signed with the label Omerta Records where my track "Delusion" was featured on The Global Unity Project mixed by JzL (Omerta Records Owner) and is available @ www.beatport.com.
