DJ/PRODUCER JAMES TODMAN

He sings along to his shower radio and one day wants to be as big as Cher! His name is James Todman- the next big thing to come out of the Gold Coast!

James Todman’s romance with Music began when he took up piano at the age of 8. From there it evolved naturally. At 14 he began tinkering with sounds and would program music in the white glow of his laptop screen, under the covers, after lights-out. In his senior years of high school he began recording at his campus studio, so it was fitting that he would go on to study Music Production at University.

The love affair continued through his studies as James managed to juggle achieving excellent academic results while honing his passion for DJing with regular appearances at nightclubs LaLa Land & Cocomongers. All the while James managed to assume somewhat of a hippy lifestyle in Byron Bay, jumping festival fences and producing works with emerging local bands.

Since his graduation James has moved on in leaps and bounds, playing to raging crowds every weekend at the Gold Coast’s iconic nightclub Melbas on the Park, where he has been a resident since February of 2008.

2009 has been a big year for James who successfully wrote, produced and recorded Pretend feat. Annabelle Lazar, which was awarded runner up in Radio Metro’s Makin’ Music Competition. He has also been busy with business partner and fellow DJ Brett Allen as the two follow up on the February launch of their record label, Midnite Music, with the release of two new singles in September of this year.

Infamous for pressing guest DJ’s for tips back stage, James’ eagerness to listen and create now sees him spending most of his time in his home studio where he crafts his production skills to a fine point. His friends call him a nerd, and some people speculate he may have a music collection capable of supporting a radio station. Whether or not these things are true is anyone’s guess. You can be certain, however, that James Todman’s potential is limitless, and his future in music is definitely something to watch out for.
