2tall originally met Dudley Perkins whilst on tour in late 2005 to record a song for a features project, and having worked together there was talk of more work to follow. "We recorded ‘Atall' in 2005, and we got talking about the world, how people perceive time, and all that.” 2tall explains. “I honestly thought Dudley was this crazy guy, but I knew his antics came from love. I share with him the notion that these are the last days of this era, so we were talking about possible futures.”

Following this initial meeting, 2tall received a phone call in January 2006 regarding more material, and went away to work on productions specifically for the project. “We had done the ‘Atall' song, and I thought that was it.” Says 2tall. “I was just happy to have done something so meaningful at the time, especially with Dudley. ‘Atall' is DEEP, but like anything of this nature you need the ears for it, or it just passes you by.”

At the end of January 2006, Dudley touched down in the UK with Georgia for their Europe tour. “Dudley was over with Georgia, and we spoke on the phone about doing more work together.” 2tall revealed. “I began to get in to his back catalogue, and realised there was all this other stuff asides from the Declaime thing that he really had touched on, and it seemed like it was slept on, seriously. I then saw them both perform together for a long slot, and the whole experience took me somewhere else. I'd never seen that at a hip hop show, it was like I was on mushrooms, it was timeless - they take you somewhere.”

“At the time I was reading about the Mayan civilization, and I had been opening my mind to new things.” He continued. “Seeing all these signs everywhere that the world was slipping into something new, a new state of consciousness, I could see that his music was reflecting it, so I committed to the project. At first it was just going to be an EP, but then we did some more songs between tour dates, and it became ‘Beautiful Mindz', the album. It is the result of several very long days in the studio, and to be perfectly honest it changed my life, I see the world differently because of that space of time that we worked together.”

The song base continued to increase in to February, leading to the completion of the vocal material. "We just jammed it ‘till the sun came up and got the good stuff into the mix.” 2tall enthused. “Dudley wrote lyrics out upside down, literally writing away from himself down a page that was turned upside down! Creatively it just flowed, we were locked in the smokey spaceship and we just came through with an album. There was no forethought, just a healthy vibe in there... Georgia talked about her experiences in Europe between sessions, Dudley would catch a few z's between songs, and I got a stinking cold from working mad long hours, but I loved it. They taught me the meaning of real work, they are both true warriors!”

When the vocals were complete, 2tall went away and constructed the album, adding his own take on the lyrical content with the scratch track ‘Messages', along with some other studio skits. He also hired in some musician aid from Raphael Mann (who's has been touring bass player with Ben Harper's band).

2tall summarises the project succinctly yet humbly. “Dudley and Georgia are here to facilitate something very important in the world of hip hop and beyond, and I am honoured to serve them as producer and arranger of this project, and present it to the world. Om Shanti, one light - many lamps.”
