"I'm trying to remember the first time I heard about Bakersfield hip-hop trio Dirthead. It may have been a post-show email rant from a local fan who wrote something along the lines of, "Yo, you gotta check out Dirthead" or "When are you gonna give Dirthead some love?" Whatever it was, the mission was clear to these devotees that I had to find these guys. So, off I went in search of the reclusive rhymers, who, up until last week, existed only via the Web. Sensitive listeners should use caution, but for those with a taste for the down and dirty, feel free to add Dirthead to your party playlist. "We're not gangster rappers, and I don't like labels. We've seen a lot of scandalous people, drugs, violence, and we try to shed light on that. We just speak from life's experiences, being a good person and looking at life in a positive way."
