About
I've been a singer sing I could talk. I absolutely love music of all sorts and would love to be part of a jam band here in Ottawa but that's not possible yet. I'm using Garageband on my Mac to record these, and wanting to branch out beyond the traditional irish songs I started with (for copyright reasons), I'm starting to record some of my own stuff. I've been singing along with my favourite artists for so long that the songs you hear are the process of me finding my own voice.
Though most of the songs here are folky, my interests span everything from traditional celtic to Midnight Oil and Pink Floyd to Jeff Healey in his early days to some jazz and blues. Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn, the Waterboys, U2, the Hothouse Flowers are at the core of my record collection, which is growing more slowly now, but still is.
Consider me, then, a singer without a band playing around with accapella and exploring the loops of Garageband. I played live with friends in my college days and loved it. I'm not in love with my voice; I don't sing to hear myself. But I do hope that these songs might move you in some way to explore new areas you haven't yet, or to slow down and listen to a classic in a new way. And, of course, that you'll bear with me where necessary as my voice takes shape.
