About
“See these?” Delaney laughs running her hand over a rash of circular nicks peppering the stage of a club in Nashville. “Each hole was made by the heel of my favorite boots. They’re so worn out the soles are torn and the nails stick out. Everyone says I should fix them or get new ones, but I won’t, cause I’ve just now lived in them long enough that they’re mine.” This same appreciation for hard won authenticity is heard in Delaney’s songs. Born December 29, 1984 in Dallas, Texas, Delaney’s musical conviction belies her age and industry veterans are taking notice. Legendary singer/songwriter Leon Russell has taken a shine to young Delaney remarking, “She’s got a lot of soul and a big powerful voice. She means what she sings, period.” “My music is a blend of all the stuff I heard coming up in Texas and in blues clubs, dive bars, and rock joints all over: country soul crossed with roots rock and roll.” Delaney draws her sound from varied influences, “I listen to a lot of artists, but I’m partial to John Mellencamp, Janis Joplin, Steve Earle, Leon Russell, and Bruce Springsteen. I like their grit. To me rough edges tell the most about a person-like ruts carved in a road-grit tells where somebody’s been and where they got the guts to go.” www.myspace.com/delaneywalsh
