Death is not a joyride was recently named Best Experimental Band at the Austin Music Awards during SXSW! They also took home a 2nd place recognition for Best Industrial/Goth Band and 4th for None of the Above Band!!

The Human Zoo is the first full-length release by Death is not a joyride. The concept album, recorded by John Congleton (Explosions in the Sky, The Paper Chase, The Polyphonic Spree), combines elements of post-rock, punk, goth, indie and electronica.

This satirical, tongue-in-cheek collection of colorful verses is now available for human consumption!

Death is not a joyride is a female-fronted, experimental art-rock band from Austin, Texas. Comprised of a wide range of instruments, including everything from high energy drums, synths and samples to viola and mandolin, the group is known for both their schizophrenic compositions and unstoppable dancy breakdowns. Alongside vocals that twitch and croon, the band presents their live act as a circus sideshow, complete with animals masks, hypnotic visuals and zoo-based personas. Their avant-garde blend of sound craft and performance art combine into a show like nothing before!
